Artist's books: since 1989

I fell in love at first sight with the spatial creation of the layout of Mallarmé's poem Un coup de Dés jamais n'abolira le Hasard (A Roll of the Dice Will Never Abolish Chance).Without thinking twice, I decided to produce an original limited edition. To achieve a delicate printing, I requested that new letters be cast in lead to obtain a precise and subtle impression. My deepest desire was to recapture the luminous breath of Mallarmé's page.

Enthusiasm and intuition guided me. I knew nothing of the poem's acclaim.

This luxury edition was followed by around fifty artist's books produced using more modest means. Presented in the form of a box, an envelope, or a square of silk, they invite the reader to participate in their discovery. Their approach is silent; no title or author's name is given at first glance. Reading them begins as soon as the eye falls on the object. Readers become actors, invited to embrace their own sensibilities and to improvise.

These books are small stage productions that seek to transport the person from the outside to the inside, to touch the loving heart. The poems are by Mallarmé, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Éuard, Cendrars, Jean Arp, Alan Chatham de Bolivar, and other authors.
